The community of Klippan, in the north-west of Skåne, has been associated with the industry of making paper for a very long time. Out of all the paper mills, which are in production in Scandinavia, Klippan is the oldest - established in 1573. The mill has given the name to the town. Sten Bille, who started the first paper mill was feudallord in the county of Herrevadskloster and also uncle to the famous astronomer Tycho Brahe. A part of the town's many centuries of history as a papermaker has been the disposable products for the layed table.
During 1989/1990 the business establishment was reconstructed by the owners. This led to that the tradition of making napkins almost disappeared from Klippan - and with that the competence and skills of a few hundred people. The market leading company almost had monopoly at that time. In 1992 Celest Paper Klippan AB started as a counterbalance to this development and two years later Celest Paper Norge A/S was founded.
